Barefoot for Peace: A Global Call Led by Mothers

Published on March 20, 2026

On March 24, 2026, a powerful movement for peace will take its first global steps in Rome.

The Barefoot Walk for Peace marks the launch of The Mothers’ Call for Peace, a collective movement led by Palestinian and Israeli mothers in a shared demand: an immediate end to violence and a future where children are protected, valued, and free.

Led by Nobel Peace Prize nominees Reem Al-Hajajreh of Women of the Sun and Dr. Yael Admi of Women Wage Peace, this initiative transcends politics and borders. It centers something both simple and profound—the role of mothers, communities, and women as essential voices in shaping peace.

Walking barefoot is symbolic. It connects participants to the earth—to land that holds memory, pain, and resilience. It is a reminder that peace is not abstract; it is deeply human and urgently needed.

This movement sends a clear message to world leaders: Children deserve safety. Families deserve dignity. Peace must be prioritized now.

Following the walk, movement leaders will meet at the Vatican to bring this call directly to global moral and political leadership.
