On August 31, 2023, the 14th Annual DVF Awards will take place in Venice, Italy, in the country where Diane began her own journey toward becoming the woman she wanted to be and where she has returned to draw inspiration from a city known for its courage, strength and leadership.
Diane von Furstenberg and The Diller-von Furstenberg Family Foundation founded The DVF Awards more than a decade ago to recognize, support and amplify the voices of extraordinary women who are dedicated to improving the lives of other women. These are women who have demonstrated the courage to fight, the strength to survive and the leadership to inspire. Over the years, The DVF Awards have honored extraordinary women from more than thirty countries with grants to further their important work in the areas of climate change, immigration, fighting human trafficking, promoting gender equality and preventing violence against women.
In a time of increasing global strife, it has never been more important to continue to highlight the women who are impacting change.
This year’s DVF Leadership Awards honorees include Amal Clooney for her work on behalf of victims of human rights abuses all over the world; The United Nations Deputy Secretary-General, Amina J. Mohammed; environmental and human rights defender, Helena Gualinga; a leading expert on the implications of artificial intelligence, Dr. Joy Buolamwini; and storyteller and gender equality advocate, Lilly Singh.
“My mother always taught me that in times of darkness, I should look for the light. These women are the light,” said Diane von Furstenberg.
Each honoree will receive a grant to support the organization of their choice.
The event, which will be hosted with Vital Voices Global Partnership, will include a performance by multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated singer & mental health pioneer Jewel and appearances by the Nobel Peace Prize winning-journalist, Maria Ressa and special guest Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi.
